INTRODUCTION
All praise is truly due to Allah, the Almighty. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His Forgiveness. We seek refuge with Him from the evil of our souls, and from our sinful deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide and whomsoever Allah misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad () is truly His slave and His Messenger.
“O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.”
Soorah Aali ‘Emraan. [3:102]
O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife, and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship. Surely, Allah is Ever an All¬-Watcher over you.
Soorah An-Nisaa [4:1]
“O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. That He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins. He who obeys Allah and His Messenger has already attained the highest achievement.”
Soorah al-Ahzaab [33:70-71]
The above three verses are those verses which the Prophet () used to recite before his sermons. The scholars of the past and present agree that it should be written at the beginning of any book as an introduction. The subject of these verses is very appealing and every Muslim should memorize them with their correct understanding and should follow their message in his life. The Prophet () used to recite these verses in order to remind the Muslims to follow their orders, which are as follows:
1. All those who sincerely believe in Allah should fear Him as He deserves to be feared and should not disobey Him by committing sins. Sincere fear stops a person from committing sins, as he knows that Allah will punish him in this world or in the Hereafter. Even if he were to fall into sin, he would repent sincerely to His Lord due to this fear. Those who do not fear Allah are those that continuously sin and never repent.
2. Allah commands all the believers to die as true Muslims. It means that every Muslim should respect his faith and Islam. One should not end his life as a follower of any religion other than Islam. Another meaning is that when a person commits a major sin, his eemaan is removed from his heart and if he were to die in such a state, he would die as a disbeliever. Therefore, it is very necessary that every Muslim must avoid committing any sin, because a person may die at any time, hence he should end his life in a state of obedience to Allah and not in a state of disobedience to Him.
3. Every Muslim must believe that Allah is the Creator and that no one else is similar to Him. One must be conscious that He is watching us at all times and that we can never hide ourselves from Him. Therefore, we must avoid disobeying Him.
Allah commands every Muslim to fear Him even while uttering words because whatever is uttered is recorded and Allah will take account of those words on the Day of Judgement. Therefore, every Muslim must speak the truth or keep silent. Allah forgives the sin of those who speak the truth and also accepts their deeds. Allah promises us that the one who obeys Him and His Messenger will definitely achieve success in this life and in the Hereafter.
